Explorers

The Unit is run by an elected Committee of Explorer Scouts under the guidance of the Explorer Scout Leader (ESL).  This section, as you may expect, has a fairly informal approach and ad-hoc groups are created as the need arises.

Activities can include almost anything that you can think of, and quite a lot of other activities as well!   There are strict rules for adventurous activities regarding the qualifications required by those in charge of the activity. We as a group are very fortunate to have a number of well qualified leaders in climbing, hill walking, canoeing and sailing.

The Unit meets from 7.30-9.30 p.m. on Fridays in  their own building called  “ The Forge ” behind the St. Johns community centre.

As new Scouts come into the Unit the older ones have to leave when they get to 18 . From then various options are open; Network Scouting, District Service Team, Leaders, and getting involved in other activities that they have picked up whilst in the movement.
