7th Epsom Group make regular trips overseas – from visiting our Scout friends in Sweden through to supporting community projects in Africa.
In 2020 we are going to Madagascar! A team of 21 Scouts and Explorers and eight Leaders are going to work with the Tily Scouts on some charity projects (the specifics will be confirmed by September 2019). We have a contact at Akany Avoko Faravohitra, which is an inspirational children’s refuge caring for destitute, abandoned and neglected girls.
We also plan to do some work with WaterAid as almost half of Madagascans have no clean water, and around nine in ten still have nowhere decent to go to the toilet. The Tily Scouts help WaterAid to deliver their water hygiene education programme.
We are funding the trip ourselves and are currently fundraising for our potential projects for which we have set up an online donation page.
The team has an ongoing programme of camps and activities to build our confidence and skills and learn about Madagascar (where our greatest challenge is to learn the Madagascan Nation Anthem in Malagasy!)
Alongside many other fundraising activities, we are also available for any odd jobs: house clearances, gardening, or anything you need us to do. Please contact us
